lest we forget

While it is important to remember the lessons of war, there are many others who have fought in Australia's past for their way of life and what they believed in that also need to be remember.

• Lest we forget the aborigines who sometimes fought the white invaders who came and took their land, and sometimes their people.
• Lest we forget the aborigines who fought for the white invaders even when the whites did not give them the vote or consider them to be real people in the constitution.
  
• Lest we forget the children who were stolen from their parents because they were deemed to be unworthy.
• Lest we forget those who were sent to live in reservations because they were not white, because they were aborigines, Chinese, islanders and others.
  
• Lest we forget children held in detention for no good reason for years of their lives.

I'm sure there are many others, but these are what I wanted to write for now. Fell free to add your own.

On ode to those who fought in WWI,

Lest we forget,
those who selflessly gave their lives to protect a land where the indigenous population were not considered citizens and were sent off to reservations.

lest we forget,
those who gave their lives for a land where only people with white skin were unwelcome.

lest we forget,
the injustices of the past.

lest we forget,
that there is a bigger wider picture.

Lest we forget,
the fact that people on all sides of the conflict gave their lives selflessly for a cause that they believed in.

I have always wondered about the distinctions for murder. But war is just the most effective method of mass murder. More than 125 men were killed in the making of the photo in my grandfathers photo album, but only 125 men are in it. Who know how many plants and animals were killed on the side? I do not know.

a short history of modern japan

Japan was a medieval world who's leaders were unwilling to change. Some people wanted change and actively sought it. When the Americans forced change they took the opportunity and said never again will another country do this to us. So they built a big army, navy and later airforce. Some time later some other Japanese used these assets to attack the Americans. (revenge perhaps?) They lost. The Americans sailed into Tokyo bay as a hostile force for change a second time. So the Japanese said for a second time, never again.

A very shory history of the fall of France in 1940

Germany invaded France and were surprised to win. The French fought valiantly but were routed and threw in the towel. The British also fought valiantly but ran away with their tails between their legs after a few days. The Americans stood the side lines and said, nothing to do with us.
